My Story
Alyssa offers a warm, empathetic, and supportive space where clients feel safe to be vulnerable and express themselves openly. She takes a client-centered and culturally sensitive approach, working collaboratively with clients to help them move toward their personal goals. Alyssa believes that creating a non-judgmental and respectful environment allows clients to explore their challenges more deeply, gain insight into their experiences, and develop meaningful, realistic goals. She also focuses on helping clients build practical tools and coping strategies that support long-term growth and emotional well-being.
Alyssa completed her Bachelor of Applied Science degree with Honours in Human Behaviour, along with a minor in Mental Health and Addictions. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, where she continues to expand her clinical knowledge and skills in evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
As a psychotherapist from an Indo-Caribbean background, Alyssa is mindful of the ways culture, family dynamics, and identity can shape a person’s experiences. She brings a thoughtful and collaborative approach to her work, supporting clients in making sense of their thoughts, emotions, and behavioural patterns in a way that feels meaningful and relevant to their lives. Alyssa takes a strengths-based perspective, helping clients recognize their existing resilience while also developing new coping strategies. Her goal is to support clients in building insight, improving emotional regulation, and creating lasting changes that align with their values and overall well-being.
